Overthinking is a common psychological state among modern office workers, leaving the brain exhausted and significantly reducing performance. This article analyzes workplace overthinking, its scientific causes, and HRI Vietnam’s perspective on sustainable mental well-being.

Overthinking is a familiar experience for many office workers today. You may lie in bed replaying a morning meeting over and over because of one “slightly awkward” comment, or sit at your desk while your mind endlessly cycles through “what if” scenarios. At that point, you are no longer simply thinking — you are caught in a loop of excessive thinking.

In high-pressure corporate environments, this state is often mistaken for carefulness or attention to detail. However, when it persists, overthinking quietly drains mental energy and makes it increasingly difficult to focus on real action.

3. Healthy ways to break free from overthinking

Breaking free from overthinking does not mean “stopping thinking altogether,” but learning to set boundaries for it. Writing thoughts down on paper, practicing deep breathing, or allowing yourself a few minutes of mental stillness can help the brain interrupt the anxiety loop.

One effective principle recommended by experts is think – act – let go: think once, act once, then release. When action replaces worry, overthinking gradually loses its grip.
